The role of defoaming agents in Concrete

Under normal circumstances, after ordinary cement concrete slurry hardens, a large number of pores will appear in the internal structure of the slurry, and pores are the main factor affecting the strength of concrete. In recent years, research has found that generally in liquids with high viscosity, the introduced air is difficult to escape from the surface of the slurry, thereby producing a large number of bubbles. The bubbles introduced during concrete mixing are the main cause of pores inside the structure and on the surface after the concrete hardens, and trying to add concrete defoaming agent can significantly increase the strength of concrete.

The role of concrete defoaming agent mainly has two aspects. On the one hand, it inhibits the generation of bubbles in concrete, and on the other hand, it destroys the bubbles and causes the air in the bubbles to overflow. Adding concrete defoamer can reduce defects such as pores, honeycombs, and pitted surfaces on the concrete surface, and can effectively improve the apparent quality of concrete. It can also reduce the air content in concrete, increase the density of concrete, and thereby increase the strength of concrete.
